Tongin market is a traditional market that is located just west of Gyeongbokgung.  It is a popular spot for tteokbokki, a chewy and spicy snack.
The market was established in June, 1941 for Japanese residents.  The Japanese occupied Korea from 1910-1945.

Shoppers today can find over 75 stores and stalls off a main walkway.  One of the most charming things about this market is that you can exchange 5,000 won for a collection of old coins(Yeopjeon) and a lunch box.  You can then use these coins to buy foods to fill your lunch box.
Most items cost 1-2 coins and there is a huge variety of different foods.

Come and join us for a adventurous food discovery!

Since it is located in Seochon area, we plan to visit unique cafe for a coffee break.
