CHERRY BLOSSOM WEEK - Ihwa Mural Village, Naksan Park, Cherry Blossoms

We will walk along the Seoul City wall to the top part of the Ihwa Mural Village (a gentle uphill climb) and then down through Naksan Park and back up to the lower part of the Ihwa Mural Village.

About the event
We will walk along the Seoul City wall to the top part of the Ihwa Mural Village (a gentle uphill climb) and then down through Naksan Park and back up to the lower part of the Ihwa Mural Village. This section of the wall and Naksan Park offer beautiful views of the city and mountains and is beautiful with the cherry blossoms in the Spring. Ihwa mural village at one time was destined for demolition. However in 2006, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism started the Naksan Cultural Project to transform the poor neighborhood into an artistic tourism destination with sculptures, murals and other artwork by local artists. Eventually, however, some of the residents became unhappy with the tourist invasion and a few of the popular staircase murals have been painted over.
