Neighborhood Tour - Mullae neighborhood

Mullae-dong – an area of creative and artistic shops and cafes set amongst small factory shops in the southwest of Seoul.  The Mullae neighborhood formed in the 1930s with the arrival of textile factories under Japanese occupation.  As recently as the 1980s, it was filled with small steel plants and metal vendors but has been in decline.  In the 2000s, empty spaces began being transformed by artists and musicians moving in, many who were priced out of areas like Hongdae.  Diverse artwork and graffiti line the winding alleyways.   Mullae station on the green line, exit 7.
