Supporting Korean Charities

Children from the Open Door project

The British Association of Seoul (BASS) has a long history of charity work and community involvement in South Korea.

One of the main aims of BASS is to help needy welfare organisations throughout Korea.

BASS recognises the importance of being involved in the local community and giving back to our host country.

BASS raises funds to donate to Korean charities by hosting various events throughout the year. Our main fundraiser is the annual Queen’s Birthday Ball.

Every year, we select one main project and a number of smaller projects of welfare organisations as recipients of our fundraising efforts. We support charities that aid children, the elderly, education, homeless, mentally challenged persons, women in high-risk situations, physically challenged persons and medical institutions that help the poor.

Please click on Welfare Projects to read about the main project BASS is supporting in 2010. You may also see the full list of charities that BASS assisted in 2009, as well as some past projects.

Thanks to the generosity of our members, the business community and our Korean hosts, BASS was able to raise and donate approximately 127 million KRW in 2009.

We hope that one of our many social events and fundraising opportunities may tempt you into action.

BASS currently has seven people on the Welfare Committee but we always need extra hands. Whether you can give two hours a year, or two hours a month, every bit helps and can make a difference in someone’s life.

If you would like to get involved as a sponsor, work with the Welfare Committee or join us on a Welfare visit, we would love to hear from you. For more information,  please contact our welfare team.
